You have a right to be happy.
Sometimes, however, you will have to find, create, or even fight for that right.
God never brings up or even remembers your failures once you've repented and given them to Him; the enemy is able to remind you though, because unfortunately, we don't forget, and the majority of us have a hard time forgiving ourselves.
Yes, the enemy's job is to remind us of things we are not proud of and to bombard us daily with temptations to draw us further into carnality. This is his playground and domain, after all.
But, who has time to waste thinking of old problems, or even potential ones? Some of us even let the current, tainted circumstances cloud our vision and mar our joy.

Maybe I'm a broken record, but the more we dwell on what we cannot change in the past as well as in the present, the more time and life we squander here on earth now.
You know why so many people are unhappy? Because it is the easy way to be.
It is harder to find the joy in all situations; it takes more muscles and effort to smile than to frown.
But aside from it being a miserable and exhausting way to live, God also has something to say about humanity and happiness having relations:
Philippians 4:4 (KJV) says to "Rejoice in the Lord alway: [and] again I say, Rejoice."
Psalm 37:4 (KJV) "Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart."
The Lord knows each of our paths and what we have to face, and although He knows it won't always be carefree and simple, He does still want us to be content while we have to live on the earth.
No, nothing here will ever completely satisfy, but there are temporal joys and blessings we can take part in if we look for and accept them. Ecclesiastes 3:12-13 (ESV) explains "God's gift to man" is for him"to be joyful and to do good...and take pleasure in all his toil."
A good attitude will get you far; not only will it help you look beyond the negative aspects in your life, but it's a promise that if you approach the life He's given you with a joyful heart, He will surely give you greater reasons to continue with one.
